Peridot is also known by the names Olivine and Chrysolite and is considered rare in sizes over 3 carats. Peridot can be found in Pallasitic meteorites, and those faceted stones are sold under the name "Palladot". Rated 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale, Peridot is suitable for most jewelry.
